Instrumental Initiative

In the last weeks I have been collecting instruments for the children's home where I'm going to work and stay.
It my mum's idea to take old flutes to Kenya for teaching the children how to play them.
Almost everybody in Germany has a flute or a harmonica soooooooomewhere.
Concerning their weight and size they're perfect & uncomplicated for travelling - especially by plane...

Through putting an advert in the newspaper, contacting (music-teaching) schools and friends I got all these beautiful instruments!

I am deeply touched how many and various instruments I got from people!
(And I could have gotten more if I would have had more time)

Hopefully the children will be as thrilled as I am right now!
I am motivated to keep this project alive, even when I'm back in Germany.
(okay, I haven't left yet :D)

Final Countdown!

Wow! It's unbelievable how fast a year runs...

One year ago I was crying in Kenya after staying there for a month because I didn't wanted to go back to Germany ..
Since I left the chaotic but lovable town of Nairobi time has gone by in the blink of an eye .
The whole of last year feels like a dream full of exciting events: becoming of age, completing school by doing the A-levels, celebration and graduation, driving lessons, doing assembly-line work, travelling through France and Spain.

In three days I'll be back to Kenyas capital and I can't wait to hug all my relatives and friends.
My suitcases aren't packed yet. My survival package (essentially contains cheese, chocolate and tobacco) isn't bought yet. And I still don't have my driver's license (test coming up on Wednesday :/ ).

As always I'm organising and taking care of my duties and responsibilities last minute...
